Veterans Day 2018 is upon us and is revered as the end of “the war to end all wars”. 100 years ago, YES, 100 years ago on November 11, 1918, our troops, as part of the Allied nations ceased fighting with Germany. An armistice, at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month ending World War 1. The ending of “The Great War” is as profound as the war itself.
Many events are scheduled locally, regionally and nationally to recognize this sacred day. In Huntsville, Texas most notably is the Annual Banquet at the HEARTS Veterans Museum of Texas Tickets are still available! For more information click: 19th Annual Veterans Day Banquet.

The significance of November 11th is not just about saving some money or a day off from work. Veterans Day is about paying homage to our military members young or old, active or retired or alive or deceased. This day represents strength, hope, courage, and freedom. What started with an act of terrorism in Europe ultimately took the lives of over 17 million people and lasted over four years. That is a huge sacrifice that to this day still has profound effects on the world and the United States of America.
Take a moment on Veterans Day to say thank you. Thank a veteran, thank a soldier and thank their families. We have freedoms and rights that so few countries have or allow. Do not take these freedoms for granted. They were bought with a price and unfortunately many were bought with the price of a life.
Thank a Veteran.
